According to a source who speaks exclusively to PEOPLE, Miley Cyrus was not aware of any purported “drama” involving her mother Tish Cyrus, sister Noah Cyrus, and her mom’s new husband, Dominic Purcell.

“Miley had no idea about the drama with Dominic. No idea at all,” the insider claims of the 31-year-old singer of “Flowers,” following the earlier this week revelation by a source that Noah, 24, and Purcell, 54, had been dating before to Purcell’s marriage to Tish, 56.

“She confronted her mom about it,” the insider continues, “She thinks it’s a strange situation, but she loves her mom and wants her to be happy.”

When PEOPLE asked for comment on Sunday, representatives for Miley, Tish, Noah, and Purcell did not immediately reply.

A representative for Noah refrained from commenting on the supposed romance between her and Purcell.

The younger Cyrus sister “was offended” by her mom’s friendship with the Prison Break star, a source told PEOPLE earlier this week.

The informant stated that before the actor and Tish pursued their own relationship, Noah and Purcell had hooked up and broken up.

“Noah and Dominic were seeing each other in a friends with benefits way, off and on. They stopped seeing each other and then Tish started something up,” the source said, adding that “Tish knew he had been seeing Noah.” 

The insider added, “Tish never gave Noah the chance to talk about all of this before they got married.”

On August 19, 2023, Tish and Purcell exchanged vows in maid-of-honor Miley’s backyard. Noah did not attend the event.

A few months prior, in June 2023, Noah declared her engagement to Pinkus, the fashion designer.

After more than 28 years of marriage, Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from Tish in April 2022. More than a year later, Tish and Purcell were married.

Together with sons Trace, and Braison, the ex-couple is also parents to daughters Brandi, Miley, and Noah. In addition, Billy Ray is the father of 32-year-old Christopher Cody from a prior union.

An insider revealed to PEOPLE separately this week that although the divorce was “long overdue,” it wasn’t “easy for any of the kids.”
